George Clooney gave Ben Affleck some recommendation on taking part in Batman: “Don’t do it.”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney–who performed Batman in Joel Schumacher’s 1997 field workplace bomb Batman & Robin–recalled the recommendation he gave to Affleck. “I actually did talk to him about it. I said, ‘Don’t do it.'”

Clooney mentioned the recommendation he gave to Affleck–who performed Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League–was based mostly solely on his personal expertise, which wasn’t nice. “I wasn’t good in [Batman & Robin], and it wasn’t a good film,” Clooney recalled.

“But what I learned from that failure was, I had to rethink how I was working,” he added. “Because now I wasn’t just an actor getting a role, I was being held responsible for the film itself.”

Affleck did take the a part of Batman in Dawn of Justice, towards Clooney’s recommendation, and Clooney remarked that Affleck “did great” within the film.

Affleck–who gained Oscars for Good Will Hunting and Argo–was initially hooked up to put in writing, direct, and star in a brand new Batman film referred to as The Batman. However, he finally dropped out. Explaining his determination to depart, Affleck advised Jimmy Kimmel that he “couldn’t crack it.”

There isn’t any phrase but on who would be the subsequent actor to play Batman after Affleck. Other actors who’ve performed Batman over time embody Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, and Val Kilmer.
